DAMARINE ANTIQUES SHIPPING
Shipping arrangements and all attendant costs ,including insurance , are the responsibility of the buyer . There are two
local shippers who specialize in the transport of antiques . Both will give estimates of shipping costs over the telephone if the
buyer provides a description of the piece (s) with dimensions and a destination address. Their rates are very reasonable
and both have moved furniture for our clients over the past eight years without any problems.
They can be reached on their cell phones at any time:
Doug Dickinson - Northport , ME - Cell Phone # 603 - 512 - 9168
Wyatt Shorey - Rockland , ME - Cell Phone # 207 - 542 - 9036
To accommodate our clients and their shippers we will always make the shop accessible for pick up .
For artwork and smaller items we can bring them to local packaging and shipping services and have charges billed to the
customer`s credit card .
THE ANATOMY OF OUR CUSTOM MADE FARM TABLES
A partial view of the N.C. Hunt
Company mill in Jefferson , ME where
we buy the highest grade Eastern
White Pine for our tabletops.
Bitter cold day last January with the
temperature at -10 deg F. and I am
selecting choice 10`long 12 " wide and
1 1/8 " thick boards for our tabletops.
( That`s me on the left )
Half the load on this trip to the mill.
Each board is personally inspected to
insure that it is not warped , cupped ,
twisted or damaged .
First step is to biscuit joint the full
length of each board with a biscuit
inserted every six inches. Once the
biscuits and edges are glued they
must be clamped tightly and let dry.
After the boards are glued together
edgwise by using clamps horizontaly
the breadboard ends must be biscuit
jointed and clamped. This table top is
eight feet long. The clamps are ten
feet.
Assembly of the base is completed and
now the top can be applied and the
extensive finishing process begun.
See the next page for more details and
photographs of the finished tables.
