RESTORATION AND REFINISHING
Every piece of furniture we acquire is inspected ,
repaired and , if warranted , refinished before being
put on display. This insures that the piece is ready for
placement into the client`s home without further work or
expense.
Shown at left is a large secretary in solid mahogany and
exotic book matched flame mahogany veneers
.Completely restored the piece appears the way it
looked when it was created in the very early 19th
century. Sold, the secretary is now in Boston, MA.
An elegant chest of drawers ca 1830 makes a dramatic
design statement with its solid cherry case, mahogany
top drawer and three lower drawers faced in very showy
birds eye maple veneer. The original back splash is a
single piece of solid bird`s eye maple more than one
inch thick.
Most back splashes are typically one - half inch thick.
Completely restored this handsome bureau was sold
and now resides in a client`s home in Boston, MA
Another smaller secretary from the same period
featuring dramatic mahogany veneers , and original
glass was refinished for a local client here in Maine. The
pulls and escutcheons are replacements manufactured
from original period designs from the Horton Brass
Company of Connecticut.As shown in this handsome
example We also offer repair and restoration services to
customers who have furniture that is in need of
rejuvenation.
CUSTOM FARM TABLES
New construction includes the production of pine farm
tables . These tables are custom made with tops of full
one inch thick Eastern White Pine with breadboard
ends. The legs and stretchers ( shown at left ) are of
solid maple. Each table has cross supports between the
stretchers to prevent racking. Tables are available in six
and eight foot lengths.
The finishes on all custom pieces are of two coats of
high quality satin finish varnish applied by hand and
topped off with two coats of paste wax buffed out by
hand. The end result of this finishing process is the
tactile feel of butter under your hand
